Dynamic resource configuration in DiffServ networks: control plane mechanisms and performance evaluation of a traffic control API

چکیده
Voice, video and multimedia applications are sensitive to the QoS provided by the underlying IP network. The DiffServ architecture offers a set of QoS mechanisms for IP networks. The “binding” of the applications QoS needs with the QoS features offered by the DiffServ networks is still an open problem. The simplest approach is to have a static configuration of QoS and therefore no direct interaction in the control plane between applications and QoS. We consider the advanced scenario, where the QoS mechanisms can be dynamically configured to follow the applications’ need. For this scenario, a set of control plane interfaces needed for a whole end-toend QoS architecture is defined. At the lower lever, an internal interface (“Application Programming Interface” – API) in the QoS router is considered. This interface provides access to the DiffServ QoS mechanism available in a router and it is used by the control logic running in the router itself. Then a QoS signaling protocol is considered, that allows external QoS clients to dynamically access the QoS services provided by the network. Finally the interaction of a session level signaling protocol (i.e. the SIP for IP telephony) with the QoS protocol is defined. The testbed implementation of proposed architecture and a set of performance tests on the internal QoS API are reported.

A Fuzzy Based Three Color Meter/Marker for Diffserv Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)
Differentiated Services (Diffserv) which was proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), is a scalable and robust model for providing the end-to-end QoS. In the Diffserv networks, metering mechanisms are used to measure traffic stream. The single rate Three Color Meter (srTCM) [1],which was proposed by IETF, meters an IP packet stream and marks its packets either green, yellow, or red....

Gaining lessons from the IntServlRSVP experiences, more simplified Differentiated Services(DiffServ) has emerged as the core network architecture with enhanced scalability for implementation and deployment. In order to provision differentiated services on a DiffServ domain, it is necessary to provision resources appropriately in the control or management plane of the DiffServ domain, in additio...
متن کاملDynamic Map and Diffserv Based Ar Selection for Handoff in Hmipv6 Networks
In HMIPv6 Networks, most of the existing handoff decision mechanisms deal mainly with the selection of Mobility Anchor Point (MAP), ignoring the selection of access router (AR) under each MAP. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism called “Dynamic MAP and Diffserv based ARs selection for Handoff in HMIPv6 networks” and it deals with selecting the MAP as well as ARs. MAP will be selected dyna...

This paper proposes a management of DiffServ-over-MPLS transit network with BFD(Bidirectional Forwarding Detection)/OAM (operation, administration and maintenance) in ForCES (Forwarding and Control Element Separation) architecture for QoS-guaranteed DiffServ-over-MPLS traffic engineering. The proposed BFD and ForCES functions are implemented on Intel 2400 network processor, where BFD/OAM packet...
متن کاملComparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....
